I would go again but just for drinks and dessert. Don’t order the steak. It’s a waste of money. Where’s the season?!?!? Also, I ordered the seafood fettuccine……Where was the sauce?!?!? But the dessert was good. The waiter was amazing. Good spot for cocktails.
A great bar to have drinks with friends. Plenty of tables and bar stools. The music is very loud, so you’ll need to yell above the music at times. The drinks and food are good. If you’re staying at the Captain Cook Hotel then Whale’s Tail is a great choice instead of going out in the cold.

This is a fun place to meet up with friends to chat, have a bite, and enjoy some music. The appetizers are great and the cocktails are made well! Plus they have the amazing wine dispenser to pay by the glass for variety.
Excellent rib eye done medium rare. Every bite of the 360gm was delicious.
If I could get this place, zero stars, I would. Though the atmosphere is beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the saxophone player was outstanding. I will not be returning. All the talk. I heard about this place was completely wrong. I was told by many people it was a great place to lounge and drink wine, with a wine stations that are utilized by a card., but this is not the case anymore. When asked about the change, we were advised that the Whales Tail is trying to turn into a steakhouse. When I asked why they would do this we were advised that they wanted to open up their clientele to more than just 21 and up. I told the waiter to look around the room… Not one person on a busy Friday night was below 21. If this is the case, and they want to continue to become just another restaurant, then I will not be spending any more time here. It’s bad enough that Anchorage does not have enough fancy places. It’s even worse that there’s almost no places where adults can just lounge and enjoy the evening . The last thing I want to do is have a drink while little kids are screaming. I can get that at Chili’s. Thanks for nothing Whales Tail.
