My experience here was extremely disappointing. We had a breakdown on the way to Austria, whereupon my insurance company referred me to the partner car rental company Enterprise to organize a rental car. The process went smoothly, although it took six hours for the vehicle to arrive – although this was agreed upon in advance and acceptable to us. The rental car, a nine-seater VW Transporter, was delivered to the parking lot of the VW Fischer dealership at 9 p.m. A different vehicle was actually listed on the Enterprise website, but the vehicle received turned out to be outdated and had significant external damage. Unfortunately, the inside was by no means clean, not vacuumed and anything but pleasant.
I pointed out the condition to the handover officer, whereupon he simply confirmed it and said he would make a note of it. Despite my dissatisfaction due to the emergency situation, I accepted the vehicle and first drove to the car wash to clean it myself.
We had the rental car for four weeks due to repairs that took longer due to a lack of spare parts. When I picked up my own car from the workshop after this time, the car rental company Enterprise was not there at 3 p.m. as agreed, and even at 3:30 p.m. In consultation with the car rental company, I handed over the key to the VW dealership after unloading the last items.
Three days later I received a call from the car rental company claiming that the car was extremely dirty. Apparently they even had to dispose of an entire garbage bag and they would now charge me a flat rate of €100.00 for the cleaning. A complete impudence, because the car was at least as clean as I received it. I may have missed a paper cup or candy wrapper, but claiming that the car was completely filthy and loaded with an entire bag of trash is just plain bold.
I immediately informed my insurance company and said that I no longer wanted to be referred to this car rental company. I can only recommend choosing another car rental company. If this cannot be avoided, please document every detail carefully. It’s unfortunate because I was actually happy with the service, but you can be wrong.
Updated February 6, 2024: The standard answer under the rating says it all. Finally, they called me again today and asked if I had received my bill yet (see photo). Very poor performance from such a company.
